Day 13 Spokane to Snohomish, Washington

One of the peaches my niece gave us is the perfect breakfast to compliment my happy mood this morning.

We pray at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane before leaving town. Have I mentioned that Mass is my favorite way to begin the day?

Having made the decision to eliminate our plans to go to Victoria, British Columbia on this trip, we extended our stay in Snohomish and I’m excited to see what awaits us.

We lunch in the Bavarian village of Leavenworth, a place we wish we had more time to explore, but we’ve told Caleb, whose birthday we’re celebrating, that we’ll see him this afternoon.

After driving through miles of recently harvested wheat fields we come upon forested terrain similar to what we’ve seen in earlier days of this trip, but denser, and on a grander scale. My eyes are constantly drawn to the heights where the sight of the mountains takes my breath away.

When we arrive in Snohomish, our AirBnB is better than I dreamt possible. Everything is clean and tidy and decorated with my favorite colors. Not only that, but it’s right on the lake. I cry with gratitude.

We finish the day at Caleb and Janel’s homestead. Caleb is celebrating his 40th birthday with roasted lamb and salmon. We get to meet Caleb’s parents and one of his sisters too. It’s been a full day which seeped into the next one as it’s after midnight when I finish writing.

I command you: be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go.
– Joshua 1:9
