I breathe a prayer, “Lord, let me glimpse your Love and I shall not stray from your path.”
Only a moment later God’s word penetrates my scattered thoughts and into my heart. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Psalm 23:6
I am the object, not the subject of the verse. Goodness and love (or in some translations goodness and mercy) pursue me. Forever. It’s not about me getting it right. It’s about his unrelenting love for me.
Lord, you are the protagonist in our relationship. You are the Bridegroom. I am the bride who trembles under your gaze of love; often running away because I can’t comprehend that you desire me. But you never give up. You chase me down and capture my heart, my thoughts, my very soul. Take me, Blessed Trinity. Plant in me the seed of your love that Christ may be born in me. Teach me, like Mary, to be mother and bride. Increase in me the capacity to freely receive Love. Freely I receive, freely I will give. Thank you, praise you; blessed are you Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! In you I live and move and have my being.
