Day 16 Snohomish & Lake Stevens, Washington

This morning after searching online for a nearby Mass, we are seated in a pew at Holy Cross Parish in Lake Stevens where we’re surprised by a Communion Service led by a lay woman. It’s the first time we’ve attended a lay led Communion Service in our 28 plus years of being Catholic. Though it feels strange, we’re still grateful to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.

Next we head to the Caleb’s property where Doug and John help Caleb saw cedar trees into huge planks.

Meantime, Jill and I keep the campfire going and share stories. We lost our son Evan in 2022, and Jill and John lost their son Cody the following November. We share our grief journeys and God’s faithfulness in the midst of learning to carry sorrows we could never have anticipated would be ours.

Jill is a professional artist. She does beautiful work, mostly in watercolors. You can check it out at this link: https://jilltesnowart.wixsite.com/jill-tesnow-art/blank-2

This afternoon Timothy Jackson and his family welcome us into their home in Lake Stevens, a neighboring town to Snohomish. It’s encouraging to learn how God is healing and restoring them as they are faithful to love each other and brave the difficulties they encounter.

Tim also shares this old photo of our son Christopher with him in Guatemala

We didn’t know that Timothy lived in this area until his mom messaged me after reading my blog. It’s so good to be together and share heart to heart with each other! I love such Divine surprises!!!

Our AirBNB hosts, Melanie and Keith, invite us for a boat ride around the lake this evening.

What a peaceful, relaxing way to end the day!

For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds;

at the works of your hands I shout for joy.
How great are your works, LORD!

How profound your designs!

– Psalm 92: 5&6
