Day 7 Yellowstone National Park

When I was in third grader one of the girls in my class came to school with pictures of Old Faithful from her trip through Yellowstone National Park igniting in me a desire to see it for myself some day. That was more than 60 years ago. Today my childhood longing is realized. So, first thing, I’m sharing pictures of Old Faithful, even though it’s the last site we visit before heading to our little cabin.

We leave Cody at 6am and arrived at Yellowstone by 7. It’s glorious to pray Sunday Week One psalms from Morning Prayer while feasting our eyes on the majestic beauty of creation.

Inside the park we drive along a lake and think someone has built a fire on the shore, but when we stop to check it out, we discover it isn’t smoke, but steam coming from deep inside the earth! Amazing!!

The upper falls are terrible in power and glorious in splendor.

But another whitewater area triggers a completely unexpected grief episode for me, so we decide to forgo the lower falls . . .

and head to Lamar Valley to see the bison (or American buffalo)

I have so much more to share about today, but our wifi connection (or lack thereof) will not allow it, so this will have to do for today. I hope to share a lot more pictures tomorrow and catch up with the rest of today. We’re heading for Harpster, Idaho.

Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made.
