Gratitude for Evan’s Dogs

Hatchet, Evan, and Tomahawk

Evan might think it hilarious that I posted a quote from a romance writer with this picture, but he’d also agree with the quote.

We begrudgingly housed Evan’s dogs, especially when he was away. It was hard to see past the copious amounts of dog hair which clung to my clothes and filled the dustpan. Sometimes I wondered if we were pitiful pushovers, but I’m glad now that we didn’t turn them away. It wouldn’t have been right.

His dogs are unique and unrepeatable and they helped him heal. He loved them for not holding anything against him. Ever.

It seems that toward the end, he was beginning to grasp the truth of how many people loved him the same way.

The dogs are well cared for, but I can’t help but wonder if they sense his absence from earth.

Thanks Hatchet and Tomahawk, for all you did for Evan.

It brought me happiness to read this. Dogs have a special way of helping us heal. I think it is special that the same dogs that helped heal Evan from so much are now there for you, too. I am so glad that you can be there for them and share the same love for them as Evan did… and at the same time they can love you just like they did Evan.

I didn’t mean to imply that his dogs are with us now. They are being well taken care of by others though, and I am grateful for them.
